For a home you live in, the deposit cap is two months of rent. Extra deposit is weak even if the contract says otherwise.

- Compare the monthly rent on the lease with how many months you paid.
- Photograph the handover: utilities, damage, and keys.
- Ask for the balance in writing and keep the date.
